Serving a diverse ethnic and socioeconomic population, the Spanish Program is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and service. It is committed to teaching as it services students across the disciplines. It strives to prepare students in the basic Spanish sequence courses that are required to fulfill college foreign language requirements and also serve as course electives. it also is dedicated to providing quality upper-level courses in Peninsular and Latin American culture, literature, and linguistics for students who major and minor is Spanish. Students majoring in Spanish will be prepared to continue their studies at a graduate level or to enter the work force in fields requiring Spanish language skills. The Spanish Program is committed to quality research in the areas of literature, linguistics and the applications of technology to language instruction. And it is committed to service to the department, the college, the university, and the greater community.
