Message from the Dean

As dean of the college, I am very pleased to welcome you. Whether you are majoring in chemical, civil & environmental, electrical, mechanical, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering technology, or computer engineering technology you will find our college be an exciting gateway to all things at Prairie View A&M University. PVAMU’s leadership in teaching, research, and public service makes it a beacon of excellence in higher education. Our students, faculty, and staff come together in a true community of scholars to advance knowledge, address societal challenges and pursue intellectual and personal fulfillment.

Emphasis is placed on sustaining an infrastructure to ensure the production of graduates with the highest levels of professional ethics and standards. Assembly of a world class faculty continues and industry advisory boards for each department have been established. To take the college well into the third millennium innovative courses have been incorporated and all of the computing labs have state of the art equipment. Our programs have the same accreditation as Texas A&M University, The University of Texas, Georgia Tech, Lehigh University, Purdue, MIT, and many more. Some distinguished alumni have served as executives of Fortune 500 companies, while others have made local contributions such as in the construction of the City of Houston’s Reliant Stadium which hosted the Super Bowl in Houston in 2004.

Major highlights of our college are the student oriented programs and enrichment to guarantee success including the Student Success Center, Engineering and Science Concepts Institute (ESCI), LSAMP, NACME Scholars Program, Bridge to Doctorate Program, and Guaranteed 4.0 initiative.

I encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities as you will have a fascinating journey through the vibrant and diverse university community that is PVAMU— a place where your future begins!
